11.18 - Sensis announces launch of newly designed FEMA website

Ready.gov redesign was a year in the making
(Nov. 18, 2011) WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sensis completed a redesign of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Ready.gov website, which went live Nov. 5. The site, which encourages preparedness for disasters and emergencies, represents one of the most comprehensive website redesign projects for the agency.

"This endeavor constituted a significant undertaking," Account Director Dan Tuft said. "The redesign was built from the ground up and the majority of departments at Sensis were involved."

Tuft said the redesign involved:

  • A content audit
  • Stakeholder interviews
  • Site map and wireframes
  • Visual design
  • Content creation and copywriting
  • Website production and development
  • Content implementation
  • User acceptance testing
  • Quality assurance and deployment

"FEMA's goal with Ready.gov is to increase the level of preparedness nationwide," Sensis President José Villa said. "We helped them accomplish that with this high-impact, user centered redesign of their website."

Sensis teamed with Arc Aspicio, which has extensive experience working with FEMA. You can see Sensis’ work at Ready.gov.
