Interactive agency Sensis involving community in Web site redesign
(April 26, 2010) LOS ANGELES — The City of Seal Beach sits as the gateway to Orange County between the cities of Long Beach and Huntington Beach. Seal Beach is now looking to Los Angeles-based digital agency Sensis to develop a new Web site (http://www.ci.seal-beach.ca.us) to better serve its residents, businesses and the millions of tourists that visit the idyllic beach city each year.
“Seal Beach does not want a typical city Web site, which often fall victim to too much information and too little interaction. With this Web site, we want to create a vibrant and dynamic site reflective of the city and its residents,” Sensis CEO Jose Villa said. “The site will include social media components so interested visitors and potential residents can interact with Seal Beach citizens and its leadership to get a true feel of all that the city has to offer. This is an important step for the city to build upon its reputation as one of California’s top destinations.”
The new site is scheduled to launch this summer. Sensis, which prides itself on in-depth research for all advertising campaigns and Web development projects, plans to involve the Seal Beach community in the design process. Usability testing has already been conducted to ensure the new site aligns with the goals of the city and the culture of its citizens. In the upcoming months, community members will be asked to serve on focus groups to test acceptance of the site and confirm usability.
